Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you ever sign anything.

The most common questions we hear about managed IT, security, compliance work, project scope, and working with HarrisFCS.

Do you only work with tax firms and healthcare practices?

No. Those are important specialties because the regulatory and security requirements are unusually clear, but HarrisFCS also supports professional services firms, retailers, multi-location businesses, and other small organizations that need reliable IT and stronger security.

Can you help if we already have an IT provider?

Sometimes. Cybersecurity, WISP implementation, compliance advisory, assessments, and project work can often be scoped separately. We will be clear about ownership so two providers are not unknowingly responsible for the same control.

Is a WISP just a document?

No. The document defines responsibilities, risks, and safeguards. The useful work is making the environment conform to that plan and then maintaining the controls over time.

What counts as managed support versus a project?

Recurring service generally maintains the existing managed environment. A material replacement, migration, expansion, redesign, deployment, or transformation is typically project work and is scoped separately.

Do you limit how often clients can contact you?

Support terms depend on the agreement and service level. The goal is to make it easy for clients to raise legitimate IT issues while keeping major changes and project work clearly scoped.

Do you work nationwide?

Yes. HarrisFCS is based in Oregon and supports organizations remotely across the United States. Some on-site work may depend on geography and project requirements.

Do you manage Google Workspace and Microsoft 365?

Yes. We can help with administration, security configuration, migrations, identity, user lifecycle, and related cloud projects where appropriate.

Can you guarantee that we are compliant?

No responsible IT provider should promise a blanket legal guarantee. HarrisFCS helps implement and maintain technical and operational safeguards, documentation, and review processes. Legal obligations ultimately depend on the organization, applicable rules, and how the business actually operates.

What happens on the first call?

We talk about the business, the current environment, the problem you are trying to solve, and whether there is enough fit to justify discovery. If there is, the next step is usually a more structured assessment or questionnaire before final pricing.

Can you do one-time projects without an ongoing managed-services agreement?

Yes, depending on the project. Common work includes servers, networking, migrations, hardening, workstation deployments, cloud changes, and security projects.

Still specific?
